Waking up from winter

It's been too long since I posted, as Margaret reminded me. But nothing much was going on over the winter. Not even snow.  For most of the season, it looked like this:

Finally there was a snowstorm that was big enough to require plowing--and that was a plowing fail when the tractor ran out of gas halfway down the driveway. Dad came to the rescue with gasoline and finished the job.

January was also the beginning of a very busy semester, so I didn't mind that nothing much was going on.  But you know that Franklins always find projects--so Dad and I started building a greenhouse in his garage, using some discarded windows from my brother's house. Thanks to Mom, we found a really nice plan online and are nearing the point where we can put all the pieces together.  It all began, though, with a frigid woodworking session in the garage.  Thank goodness Dad bought a propane heater, or we would have frozen.

Winter skies here are typically pretty grey--but here is a fabulous sunrise taken the day of that one big storm.  Red sky at night, sailor's delight.  Red in the morning, sailors (and farmers with tractors low on gas!) take warning.
